Welcome to The Knowledgeable Tourist! Thank you for taking time to visit my blog. I hope you will find my content exhilarating, engaging, and informative. By way of virtual introduction, my name is Uri and I love to travel! I began traveling outside North America in 1997, when I journeyed to Lima, Peru to assist an Archaeology graduate student with the mapping of a sand-covered site. Between 1998 and 2005, I visited Israel, Barbados, and the Bahamas. In 2007, I traveled to Athens, Greece to celebrate a landmark birthday. My trip to Greece also marked my first solo international vacation. Since 2007, I’ve explored Czech Republic, France, Brazil, Italy, French Polynesia (the islands of Tahiti, Moorea, and Bora Bora), the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Canary Islands (Spain), England, Malta, the Federated States of Micronesia, Guam, South Africa, Turks and Caicos, Costa Rica, New Zealand, Christmas Island and Cocos (Keeling) Islands, which are external territories of Australia, and most recently, Azores, which is an autonomous region of Portugal. Currently, I reside in New York City where I spend plenty of time pondering my next destinations. In the coming posts, I will share travel advice that I’ve been garnering since 1997. I am always striving to be a knowledgeable tourist and believe that when you take the time to educate yourself about a local population, you honor the inhabitants.
